Can you believe we’re already up to Block 4? Quiltalongs always make me realize how fast time flies.
I’m just back from Quilt Market and overwhelmed but I carved out some time to make my block. Using Jacquelynne’s tips & tricks made this the easiest sewing ever. Get your pattern here.
Great tools always help and one tool I tried out on this block, in addition to my Olfa Splash cutter and Endurance blade, was the Bloc Loc ruler for squaring up my pieced unit.
Oh-em-gee!
If you haven’t tried the Bloc Loc tools, you simply must. That amazing groove that nestles up to the seam line makes it fool-proof. This resulted in the best HST units I’ve ever made.
This month’s block combines HSTs and those cool half-rectangle units we tried out last month.
Finding the perfect shades of Aurifil thread to match my block is always one of my steps. Since we’re getting close to assembly, I’m starting to think about finishing and embellishing and these threads will be essential.
And here it is, all done & ready for the quilt top.
We have a really amazing giveaway this month. I’m so excited to tell you that you can WIN some of the tools that I’ve been using from our friends at Olfa. Look at this line-up!
To win, leave a comment on this post & tell me what traditional quilt block you would most like to see used in a modern/contemporary setting. (Comment at the bottom of this post.)
Be sure to visit all my quilty friends and see their version of this block. They each have a giveaway opportunity too!

First thank you for letting me enter for the November Olfa give-a-way. My favorite block is anything that uses half triangles and incorporates a star somewhere in the block. I just started to quilt and I got a tutorial for making half triangles. They are so VERSATILE. I canhardly wait to start working on Block #4.
