Can you believe how fast these months have flown by? It’s time to finish up our I Love Home quilt.

If you’ve been following me, you know I’ve been all about finding ways to showcase motifs from an Alison Glass print in my blocks.

My overall plan was to then set the blocks together with this print:

 

I had yardage, I had a plan, I made the first cut  . . .

And I cut two of the pieces too short.

But I didn’t realize it until I started sewing everything together.

I had cut up everything I had on hand. There was no more of the print available locally so time for Plan B.

Since I’d been featuring this print in the blocks, I decided to add some of it to part of the setting pieces. Luckily, I had Electric Quilt on hand to help me figure out all the calculations for my setting pieces.

My goal for the setting all along was something that just focused on the 4 blocks with lots of negative space.

I think adding the 2 pops of focal print in the opposite corners made the overall design more interesting. So maybe the mistake happened for a reason?

Let’s go with that, ok?

So here it is  . . . my finished top. Quilting to come later.

  7. I love just about any vibrant color with Black. I find that to be very striking. Especially a deep royal Blue!

  11. Green is my favorite color, but I also like anything shiny. That being said I guess green and gold or green and silver are my favorite.

    I really like working with yello and purple. Here lately tho I’ve been partial to lilacs and grays.

  19. It’s hard to decide which colors are my favourites. Maybe purple and green on a white background.

  21. Well turquoise is my favorite color so a combo would be Turquoise with Gold or Orange or even White.

  29. I love purple and turquoise — any shades! Apparently several others like them as well

  33. Royal blue and Orange for me. Though I don’t actually make a lot with those combinations, those who know me always assume that’s what I will gravitate to!

  38. I go crazy with color combinations, but my latest one I love is purple with lime green! It makes my heart sing!

  52. Oh my gosh!! So glad you asked! I love, love, love teal, purple, and a little gray together. I think the colors just pop! Maybe with just a tad bit of orange… I wish so much I could design a fabric line. How did you come to start doing it, by the way??

  53. Love the uniqueness of your quilt. Something I think I need to try. My favourite color combination is blue, green yellow.

  54. I don’t really have a fav duo but love all kinds of prints. I have so many prints in my collection that I have to buy solids to go with them. I do like a brighter colored palette than a neutral or pastel one. Love bright and big! Thanks for the giveaway!

  55. I have so many color combos that i love. Black and gold, purPle and pink. But i guess my favorite one would be purple and pink.

  62. I have been laughed at because I really like red and purple together! (No, I don’t belong to the “Red Hat” group)

  69. Only two colours?? I think my favourite is either a deep blue or purple with a warm white. Since I rarely make anything for myself, what I produce is usually the colours the recipient likes.

  75. AT the moment I m usInG alot of red, black and white. My Next project will be bluEs and greens with a white background. Looking forward to that.

  84. I just painted my new sewing room a shade of aqua-green blue and want to pair it with a blue purple. Our master is painted the same color and I like deep grey and teal together in their. These are my current favorite colors.

  96. I have several color combos I like, but my favorite right now is red and taupe.
    I think your additional corners add much more interest to your quilt! it was meant to be!

  98. I have two favorites, depending on my mood. I love orange and , well, almost any other color. I particularly like the citrus colors together….orange, pink, lime, yellow. When I am going more traditional and subdued, I really like purple and green.

I love to use blue and purple together when sewing special things, my mother does not think the colors go well toGether, but she and i are always pleasantly surprised at how the two colors compliment each other and really help the sEwing or quilting project really be pretty and visually appealing.
