Can you believe we’re already up to Block 4?
This week’s block is fun because it features a unique coloring of a traditional block unit that really creates interest.
I’m sewing along with my Bring on the Bubbly fabric. If you’re new to the quiltalong or if you’ve found you love these prints, there are kits available at our partner shops.
First, you’ll sew some traditional flying geese block units.
Then you’ll sew a unit where the two small triangles aren’t the same. See how that gets added to another pieced unit to create a really cool woven effect?
The original flying geese units are joined with a rectangle:
Notice that dark grey that the block pieces are on? It’s a wool pressing mat & it’s to-die for. If you haven’t tried one of these yet, you NEED one! They’re available here.
I cannot believe the difference this mat makes in terms of making my block pieces really flat & neat.
