For Round 3 of the Stash Fabrics Design Star competition, we were challenged to create a bundle for a special man in our life.
My main man is my husband, Joe, and in all my years of quilting I’ve only made one quilt specifically for him so I was excited to select fabrics especially for him.
While he has a busy day job, in his free time, he enjoys working on our family farm. So, I was on a mission to find fabrics that spoke to his love of the land and nature.
This Black Forest print in Natural was the winner for capturing both my overall theme and the perfect colors–earthy taupe and denim blue.
Allotments reminded me of the fields of soybeans. wheat and corn arranged in geometric rows.
Birds on a Wire captured the barn swallows flying overhead on a summer day.
Merry Hive represents the bees we raise.
And Cicada Song calls to mind the endless chirping on a lazy summer night.
I pulled in some blender-y fabrics in blues & taupe-y grey to round the selections and found this modern take on a plaid to pull it all together:
